What is Kratom Called in Different Countries?

Kratom is an herbal tea made from the ground leaf of the Mitragyna speciosa plant. It is mostly grown in tropical islands in Asia. Much like cannabis, kratom has many slang and street names. Because many different languages are spoken where kratom grows, kratom has many names!

In Indonesia, kratom is called kadamba, puri, or keton.

In Malaysia, kratom is called biak-biak, ketum, or kutum.

In Thailand, kratom is called bai krathom, ketum, kratom, katuan, krataum, taum, ithang, and kakuan.

In Vietnam, the name for kratom is giam.

In The Philippines, kratom is called mambog, lugub, and polapoput.

In Myanmar, kratom is named beinsa and beinsaywat.
